Vintage Cards

I found these cute vintage Christmas, Valentine's and Birthday cards the other day. These definitely brighten my day. The lady asked if I collected old cards. I said, "I guess I do now." I'll post a link to all of them (a/r 30) on my Flickr page when I get them scanned.

Vintage Baby Announcements

Love this baby announcement I found at a flea market. You can't tell but it's only 4" x 3". Looks like it's from the 50s. The package of 12 is for sale at my Etsy shop.

Retro NYC Map

I was so excited to find this retro New York City map at the Goodwill the other day...for only 30 cents! Originally it was only 50 cents. I wish I knew what year it was printed. I've looked all over and can't find a date. It looks 1920s or 30s. It has two pristine maps. One shows upper Manhattan and one shows lower. They'd be cool framed if I could bring myself to separate them from their original cover.

Happy Books Make Me Happy :-)

Found these two "Happy Books", "On the Farm" and "Funny Animals" for cheap at the local thrift store. They are made in Japan and are probably from the 1950s. The illustrations are wonderful and they live up to their name.

Cool Matchbook Collection

Not my collection, but a neat matchbook collection set to music.

Anthropomorphic Shakers

I thought I had posted these on this site and I guess I was wrong. I have found all of these in numerous flea markets and antique stores, but mostly flea markets. I found the cute tomato guys with gold leaf collars at a flea market for $5. I don't see them around much anymore. Almost all were found very inexpensively. I think they look great all together.

Dapper Little Stoppers

How cute are these two? Found these for 50 cents each at a thrift store. They are marked West Germany. I figure they're from the fifties or sixties. I love them.

I Love Letterpress!

As if I needed something else to collect I'm now a collector of letterpress type. I kind of feel like a letterpress junkie. I found this old typeset drawer at a flea market and then I began to troll ebay for type. I started out with metal type and now I'm in love with the old wooden letters and numbers. These numbers were my first "score". I'm now addicted. I've found one website devoted to letterpress and I'm looking for more! I Love Letterpress

Not Politically Correct

Don't know much about this set. I have seen one other set with many more pieces at a HUGE antique mall. There's a sticker that says "Thames pottery" on the bottom. While not PC they are cute and I had to have them. If anyone knows anything about these, please let me know.

TGIF!

It's Friday, time to break out the drinks and have a toast to the weekend! Whether or not this sign is vintage is kind of beside the point. It DID look vintage, but it's very whimsical, vintage or not...AND a great way to point the way to the drinks!

Jiffy Kodak 6-16

Here's a camera I found in awesome condition. It's a Jiffy Kodak 6-16. It looks pretty sleek and compact for a camera made from 1933-1937. I love the retro design. I'd love to see what photos look like that come from this type of camera. Maybe someday I'll find some film for it.

Funky Fabric Find

I tend to collect things that seem "unlike" me. I love Fiesta dishes, but I don't cook. I love vintage sewing patterns and fabric, but I don't sew. I think it's more of the "design" that I love rather than the object itself. I love the form and forget the function. What do you collect and what does it say about you?
